Festive Photo Shoots
The Winter 2021 Nursery Photography Season saw our team, from late September to mid November, touring nurseries throughout the UK with some truly amazing festive props!
Think retro wooden sleighs, luxurious fluffy blankets and rugs, twinkling lights, rustic logs
and, of course, the odd shiny bauble too.
We all have differing ideas when it comes to decorations – here at CO Kids Early Years Photography we aim to capture the magic and excitement of this special time of year whilst maintaining an element of style, in order to provide parents with some truly beautiful pictures of their little ones.
It’s true; ‘playing Christmas’ in September, and even October, can cause an element of confusion for adults and children alike! However, it’s amazing how quickly we can all get into the spirit of things – as it soon became clear that a red jumper, some jingle bells and a few familiar songs is all it takes to whip up some festive cheer and beaming ear to ear smiles.
From a personal point of view, I did worry that I would tire of Christmas before my home decorations had even made their way down from the loft! But I’m pleased to report that I thoroughly enjoyed extending my favourite time of year and wholeheartedly kept the joyful feeling going throughout. In fact, as I write this post in Early January I’m already thinking about the next Winter Season!
Of course, we live in a wonderfully multicultural society, and not everyone celebrates Christmas. It would be wrong to assume that each family would want their Winter Nursery Photographs to be themed in this way. CO Kids Photography has inclusivity at it’s core – every child deserves an awesome photo of their early years. There is always an option to remove the Christmas props yet keep a seasonal feel to any shoot. With full respect to all religions and beliefs, we happily work with Nursery staff to provide an appropriate setting whilst maintaining the fun!
We are currently looking at providing alternative shoots where possible to include festivals such as Diwali – look out for more information regarding this later in the year!
So for CO Kids Nursery Photographers – Christmas is much more widespread than December. We spend time planning our sets and sourcing props to ensure there is fun to be had, whether we are inside with a backdrop, or out in a nursery garden (ideally amongst woodland!). It also essential to ensure enough time to turn around the images so galleries are provided in plenty of time for orders to be placed and delivered. We take real pride in our work, knowing that a parent is eagerly awaiting a beautiful picture of their child. And we love the idea that these images could be proudly displayed in homes throughout the country – feel good vibes for everyone, all year round!
